The memory of the kings of Barahidevi and Bhuluar is intertwined with the names of the huge lakes in this area. Barahir Dighi was named after Sri Sri Barahi Devi, Bhadra Dighi was named after Raja Bhadra Roy, Balaram Dighi was named after Raja Balaram. There are rumors that people have started living in this area centering on the goddess Barahi. This area was under the sea before the incident of Barahi Devi. It is said that the history of the creation of Barahi Devi is associated with the history of human settlement in this region. People have started living in this area mainly around Barahidevi and Bhuluya. Sonaimuri Upazila Noakhali district is a prosperous town. After the first establishment of this district as an administrative police station on 28.01.2001, the people of Sonaimuri had a long-held dream of when it would become an upazila. In the 891st meeting of Nikar held in 2005, 10 unions of Noakhali Begumganj upazila with 1 municipality, respectively (1) Jayag (2) Nadna (3) Chasir Hat (4) Bargaon (5) Ambernagar (6) Nateshwar (6) Bajra (6) Sonapur (9) ) Deoti (10) It was decided to make a new administrative upazila by cutting Amishwapara and Sonaimuri municipalities. As per the decision, the Local Government Department issued the Upazila Gazette Notification through Circular No. Sub-2 / C-3.2003.194 dated 02.04.205.
